When it comes to eating right while on a diet, misguided beliefs are common, and as such, many people suffer from what should be a simple task. Believe it or not, weight loss is nothing difficult -- not at all! Sadly, because of bad tips, the process of slimming down is often considered the biggest challenge ever and we hear horrifying stories where someone only ate salad for one week. In this article, we will diassemble some strong myths people have about weight loss.

Myth one: Only some particular foods should be eaten.
Remember the story above where someone only ate salad for a whole week? Well, that woman almost died because her body was deprived of important vitamins and nutrients. That's the consequence of following diets, specifically crash diets, that advise consuming meals from only one food group or two. It's stupid. The body needs a bit of everything in order to work correctly -- protein, water, vegetables, carbohydrate, fruits, etc. While some food groups are better to lose weight, moderation is in fact the key for a good weight loss.

Myth two: Protein are only available in meat.
While meat does contain protein -- but not as much as we initially thought --, fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, oils all do too! Since we know that the normal body requires about thirty grams of protein per day -- which is not a lot --, meat is not necessary to get protein.

Myth three: Fat is evil when it comes to weight loss.
Not at all. Fat is actually necessary for the body to work; what is "evil" is wrong fat. Again, it's all a question of moderation.

Myth four: To slim down, you need to stop eating.
By far, the stupidest advice I've ever heard. If one has gained weight over the past months, it's because his calorie intake is superior than his calorie burning; now, that can be because of two things:
1) Because he eats too much;
2) Because he doesn't do enough workouts.
To work correctly, the body needs a minimal amount of foods and a minimal amount of workouts. The key is not to stop eating or to do workouts all the day, but to build a plan where you stricly control those two variables. Eat correctly by cutting out useless fats, do enough workouts, and you should start to lose weight quickly!
